Short summary
In SAITA OAPAP, the player controls a research robot that is tasked to explore the ruins of an ancient civilization on a planet with a thick and swimmable atmosphere. The player can scan different flora and fauna to learn more about them and learn three different musical notes. With these musical notes, the player can solve puzzles to continue or interact with flora and fauna to unlock more information about them.
Development context
SAITA OAPAP was developed during my 5th Animation & Game semester together with 3 other students from my semester and two Sound, Music and Production students. In this semester, we also had a director from the Animation & Game Direction study course that was tasked to direct the team and communicate a well thought out vision for the game.
Roles and contributions
Sole programmer
As the sole programmer I implemented the user interface, the player movement, the sound interaction system, the scanning and interaction system, as well as the behaviour of the flora and fauna.
Game designer
This was my first semester where I took over the role of a game designer in the middle of the project, as the person who originally as supposed to do the game design had to focus on other aspects of the project. As a game designer, I set up a game design document and designed the behaviour of the flora and fauna, as well as some unused puzzles. Most importantly, I designed the movement system of the player character.
