Logline
What's more American than Fast Food? How about cooking it with guns! Switch between individual weapons to move ingredients, cook and deliver them to your customers before they lose their patience.
Short summary
In American Cooking Simulator the player is a lone underpaid employee of a fast food chain under a highly demanding employer. The player needs to complete orders by only using firearms for every task, from slicing tomatoes to packaging burgers, embracing the chaos of the kitchen.
Development context
American Cooking Simulator was developed as part of my second Animation & Game Direction semester. Together with another student from my semester I co-directed 4 Animation & Game bachelor students. Together with my co-director we did the creative direction, and I additionally took over the technical direction, while my co-director did the art direction.
Roles and contributions
Creative direction
As part of the creative direction of the project, I developed the project vision together with my co-director. Additionally, I did the creative direction of the game design, ensuring the incorporation of the vision into the game design, leading game design meetings, and guiding the creation of the game design document
Technical direction
As part of the technical direction of the project I mainly directed the programmers of the project. To direct the programmers I created programming guidelines and taught useful clean code principles, as well as offering frequent code reviews.
